Scope





Since the inception of CRISP, the ICT scenario and human capacities (to utilize ICT benefits) within Rural Development Administration, at all levels of government have improved to a considerable extent. NIC has its presence within each of the departments under Ministrty of Rural Development (MoRD) viz. Department of Rural Development (DRD), Department of Drinking Water Supply (DDWS) and Department of Land Resources (DoLR), addressing the internal computerization needs specific to each of these rural development departments. Besides, the NIC units at States and Districts facilitate the computerization efforts in the rural development offices at State and district level (State Rural Development Department, District Rural Development Agencies DRDA ).

In the prevailing scenario, there is a need to initiate more planned and organized endeavors in the direction of integrating the rural development departments across the vertical and horizontal dimensions to meet the ultimate objective of delivering e-Governance services to the common man. Accordingly, CRISP attempts to fulfill this need and undertakes to address the following areas:

  • Stakeholders Needs Analysis to understand the needs and expectations of citizens, other government departments and businesses interfacing with rural development administration.
  • Provide Generic Rural Informatics Solutions including Back end software solutions that strengthen and integrate e-Government efforts within rural development administration, particularly for Rural Local Bodies (i.e. District Rural Development Agencies (DRDAs), Block Development Offices (BDOs), Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs)) and Front end software solutions for common man in rural areas.
  • Design and implement Strategies for horizontal transfer of existing rural informatics applications developed by NIC (Hqrs., State or district units).
  • Undertake Research & Development Activities with a view to understand the rural development processes and schemes and develop IS implementation architectures/Framework, reusable components and web services tailored to the needs of rural development domain.
